List some of the ways that digital images are stored transferred and manipulated using information technology. Definition of digital camera: electronic device that captures still, instant digital image An image consisting of data (specifically a set of elements) defined on an n-dimensional regular grid that has the potential for display. These elements are referred to as pixels. The pixels in different images may represent a variety of types of information, such as temperature, pressure, velocity, terrain height, or tissue density. “A new technology is rarely superior to an old one in every feature”       New technology in comparison to old technology in the format of cameras. Very few hard copies of photographs are printed. Most are stored and transferred to usb, dvd technology. A plus in camera technology is the storage space available of photos taken, photos can be deleted. It is faster – can take moving shots or in sequence shots. Black white/ colour, delete red eye, enhances the colours in water shots. New technology of mobile phones can shoot videos and photographs and send instantly to other receivers.

Given the prevalence of image capturing and distribution using IT, what ethical issues may arise with their use? Who owns the photo? person who owns the camera!  where does the photo or image go! protecting confidentiality of client, family and others concerned. Inform all in the image of privacy and consent.

Briefly discuss some of the ways that digital images could, or are, being used in occupational therapy practice Lectures and video conference - digital imaging and video recording is being used along occupational therapist and clients who may be demonstrating mobility issues.
